
Falcons fall to Redhawks, but capitalize in individual events

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Swimming and diving Falcons (1-3) fallto MAC competitors, the Miami Redhawks in 182-116 loss at Nixon Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon. The Falcons recorded 11 top three finishes including six first place finishes.
Senior Alisha Yee gave another strong performance as she took two first place finishes in the 200 yard backstroke and the 200 individual medley. She posted a top place time of 2:08.40 in the 200 back and another top time of 2:12.01 in the 200 I.M. Yee added a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, coming in at 59.61. Fellow senior Sami Jordan added to the Falcons wins taking first place in the 100 yard backstroke, clocking in with a time of 59.14, and a third place finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.71.
Freshman Megan Bomicino also took top honors as she placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle, swimming in at 10:33.95, as well as a third place finish in the 200 yard butterfly and a sixth place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.
Another young Falcon, freshman Vicky Yu, stood out as she took a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.24 and a fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly.
The Falcons also took third, fourth and sixth in the 50 yard freestyle. Houck clocked in at 24.75 for a third place finish, Richardson next, only one one-hundredth of a second behind Houck with a time of 24.76 and Carrie Enright in sixth posting a time of 25.18.
Other Falcon standouts were Amanda Rom who took second in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:07.19 and 2:25.94; Jennifer Beatty, who took third in the 200 yard freestyle as well as the 500 yard freestyle; and Sarah Burston, who placed third in the 200 yard I.M.
The Orange and Brown also showed strength in the relays. The team of Enright, Houck, Richardson and Jordan took first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay while Beatty, Andrea Brown, Burston and Bomicino took second. In the 400 yard medley relay, Yee, Rom, Yu and Carrie Enright took a second place finish, only one second behind the Redhawks.
The swimming and diving Falcons take a short break to prepare for their next meet as they travel to Columbus, Ohio, where they will participate in the Ohio State Invitational on December 5, 6 and 7, starting at 9:00 a.m. each day.
