Vallas Continues to Pick-Up Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Senior tri-captain Allison Vallas was named MAC East Player of the Week as announced by MAC offices today (Mar. 12). Vallas was also recently voted one of the top 30 softball student-athletes in the nation as she was named a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
Vallas, Perrysburg, Ohio native was selected to the War Eagle Classic All-Tournament team after going three-for-three against Lipscomb (Mar, 7) in the open game of the War Eagle Classic. Vallas hit a perfect 1.000 batting average with a 1.667 slugging percentage, including a triple, two singles and three RBIs. She ended the weekend with .417 batting average and .667 slugging percentage on five hits in 12 at-bats, including a double, a triple and three RBIs. Defensively Vallas had 24 putouts and one assist good for a perfect 1.000 field percentage at the War Eagle Classic.
Vallas opened the 2008 season with an eight game hitting streak and has record at least one hit in eight of the nine games for the Falcons with a season high three hits and three RBIs against Lipscomb (Mar. 7). She is currently second on the team in batting average (.414), third in slugging percentage (.655) and tied for the team best in hits (12) and RBIs (7).
This is Vallas' third career MAC East POW honor as she was named once as a freshman (April 16, 2005) and once as a junior (May 2, 2007).
