MUNCIE, Ind. - The Bowling Green State University women's golf team fired a 327 on day one of the Cardinal Classic to sit in eighth place among the 12 team field. Host Ball State leads the tournament with a 304, followed by Longwood (305), Ferris State (314), Grand Valley State (316) and Indianapolis (317) to round out the top five.
The second round is scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start Monday, however, weather conditions may delay the start to mid-morning.
The original 16-team tournament was reduced to a 12-team field after Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and Cincinnati withdrew from the tournament for weather reasons.
Leading the Orange and Brown were a pair of seniors in Jessica McCann and Carley Hrusovsky, who both carded 80's. McCann went 42-38, while Hrusovsky shot 41-39 for her 80. Both sit in a tie for 22nd in the 68-person field.
Also competing for the Falcons were freshman Lauren Glew (83, T-38th), senior Amanda Bader (84, T-41st), senior Lindsey Jonkhoff (89, T-57th) and freshman Marisa Glew (84, T-41st).
With the final day of competition still up in the air based on weather conditions, stay tuned to BGSUFalcons.com for any updates on Monday morning's competition.
