Falcons Finish T-Seventh at Rutherford Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team improved by 10 strokes on the final day of competition at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, but fell one spot to finish in a tie for seventh with a 54-hole score of 908 (306-306-296).
Purdue won the event with a score of 871. They were followed by VCU (886), Penn State (889) and Miami (891) to round out the top four.
The Falcons were led by freshman Drew Preston, who in his first career collegiate tournament, finished in a tie for third in the 66-person field with a score of 218 (75-72-71).
He was followed by John Powers (227, T-24th), Matt Schneider (231, T-39th), Bryan Mitchell (236, T-48th) and Parker Hewit (240, T-55).
Up next for the Orange and Brown will be the John Piper Intercollegiate, an annually hosted even by BGSU. The 54-hole event will take place on Sept. 8-9.
