Women's Golf Tees Off At Duramed Mid-American Conference Preview On Monday
October 08, 2009 | Women's Golf
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team returns to action next Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th, at the Duramed Mid-American Conference Preview, hosted by the University of Toledo.
The 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,114-yard Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Indiana.
The tournament should provide a unique glimpse of what may happen at the Mid-American Conference championships in April 2010, as eight MAC teams will be participating in this event. Competing against Bowling Green will be the Akron Zips, the Ohio Bobcats, the Toledo Rockets, the Ball State Cardinals, the Northern Illinois Huskies, the Western Michigan Broncos and the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
In their four previous tournaments this season, the Falcons have competed at least once against all but one of these MAC foes. Only Northern Illinois has not faced the Orange and Brown in 2009.
Eight non-MAC schools will also be participating in this event, and represented conferences include the Big East, the Horizon League, and the Missouri Valley Conference. The other schools are: Bradley, Butler, Cincinnati, Indiana State, Middle Tennessee State, Oakland University, Southern Illinois, and Youngstown State.
In their most recent action, Bowling Green finished ninth at the second annual Zippy Invitational. The Falcons were led by freshman Susannah Grunden, who won tournament medalist honors by posting a three-round score of 226. The victory was the first for a Bowling Green player since April 2008, and her performance was rewarded as the MAC named her Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
