The Xavier men's basketball team shot 65 percent from the field and made 12-of-19 three-pointers as the Muskateers defeated Bowling Green 101-57 Tuesday night. Xavier used a 22-3 run to pull away from the Falcons late in the first half.

Otis Polk and Scott Thomas combined for 14 of Bowling Green's first 18 points and the Falcons hung around for the first 13 minutes of the game. Joe Jakubowski scored on a lay-up and Jordon Crawford swiped the ball from Xavier's Mark Lyons and swooped in for an easy fastbreak lay-up as the Muskateers led just 29-25.

But Bowling Green went cold and Xavier just continued to shoot the lights out. The Muskateers went on a 22-3 run over the final 6:15 of the first half to go into the break with a 51-28 lead. Xavier started the second half on an 8-1 run and never looked back.

Thomas led Bowling Green in both scoring and rebounding with 13 and six, while Polk added 11 points and Marc Larson had 10. The Falcons had just seven turnovers for the game and forced 13 Xavier miscues. But the Muskateers made up for that by crashing the boards and holding a 43-26 rebounding edge.

Xavier had five players in double figures in scoring led by Indiana transfer Jordan Crawford with 24. Jason Love, Terrell Holloway, and Brad Redford had 12 each.

For the Falcons, Dee Brown scored a career high nine points, making 3-of-3 three-pointers. He is now perfect from long range on all five of his attempts on the season.

Xavier improves to 2-0 with the win and Bowling Green drops to 1-1. The Falcons will look to get back in the win column Friday night with a game at Iowa, set to begin at 9 p.m.
