Williams Named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

Roger Williams, a member of the Bowling Green State University football team, has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week, following his efforts versus Toledo. The announcement was made by the league office this afternoon (Nov. 30).

The senior finished with four tackles and two interceptions, the first Falcon with a multiple interception game this season.

Williams, a first-year starter at cornerback, has 70 tackles and a team-high 47 solo stops in 2009. He leads the team with four interceptions and has added three pass breakups.

The Lake City, Ga., native also serves as the team's main kick returner. For the year he has 42 returns for 895 yards (21.3 avg.) and is the BGSU school record holder for kick returns (97) and yards (2,109).
