Falcons Ninth After Day One of Palmas Del Mar

Falcons Ninth at Palmas Del Mar Through 18 Holes The Bowling Green State University men's golf team carded a 310 on day one of the Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate to sit in ninth-place through 18 holes of action.
UNC Greensboro leads the event with a 284. They are followed by Johnson & Wales (294), St John's (296), Notre Dame (299) and Virginia Commonwealth (299) to round out the top five.
All five Falcons improved on their performance from last week at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, helping the Orange and Brown LOWER their team score by 20 strokes.
Leading the way was junior Matt Schneider, who carded a 1-over, 73 (38-35) to sit in a tie for 11th among the 54-player field. Fellow classmate John Powers, who missed last week's action with an injury, carded a 77 (39-38) on dayone to sit in a tie for 29th.
Rounding out the Falcon competitors were Drew Preston (80, T-40th), Bryan Mitchell (80, T-40th) and Parker Hewit (81, T-46th).
Day two of the Palmas Del Mar starts on Tuesday morning.
