Track and Field Finish First at Toledo Collegiate Challenge

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Falcons finish first at the University of Toledo Collegiate Challenge accumulating eight first place finishes. Two athletes would set new meet records and one would have a qualifying throw for NCAA Regional meet.
"This was a good start to the outdoor season and a complete team effort," said head coach Cami Wells.
Seven of the eight first place finishes would be collected in the field events for Bowling Green State University. Of these seven, both senior Whitney Hartman and sophomore Brittani McNeal would each earn two first place finishes.
Hartman would come out on top in the hammer throw and discuss events. In the hammer throw, she would throw 54.04 meters setting a new meet record and almost qualifying for the NCAA Regional meet. Hartman also threw a 45.66 meters in the discuss beating out the second place finisher by over 4 meters.
McNeal would show her ability in both the long jump and triple jump. She would place first in the long jump with a distance of 5.68 meters. She would then earn a victory in the triple jump with a distance of 11.18 meters.
The next of the field athletes to earn a first place finish would be senior TaKarra Dunning. She would earn her spot in the shot put throwing 14.59 meters. Dunning would earn a qualifying spot for the NCAA Regional meet with her toss.
Junior Sabrina Forstein placed first in the pole vault reaching a height of 3.66 meters. Forstein's vault gave her the overall Toledo Collegiate Challenge record.
Paige Lane, sophomore, would earn the top spot in the javelin for the Falcons. Lane would throw the javelin 36.30 meters.
In the 1500 meter run, sophomore Autumn Dettmann would place first with a time of 4:48.40. Dettmann would win by a margin of two seconds behind the second place finisher Brittany Dixon from Central Michigan University.
"I'm looking forward to getting out and competing at our next event at Detroit Mercy," said Wells.
BGSU will be competing next Friday, April 3rd, at the University of Detroit Mercy Titan Classic.
