Falcons Finish Fourth at UC Davis

Davis, Calif. - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team finished fourth at the UC Davis Quad Meet with a score of 192.400. Sacramento State captured the event with a score of 194.625, followed by UC Davis (192.950) and New Hampshire (192.525).
BGSU's score of 192.400 was their fifth-highest score of the season.
The highlight of the afternoon was the Falcons' performance on the floor exercise. As a team the Orange and Brown combined for a score of 48.500, their second-best mark of the season on floor. The Falcons were led by Breanne Guy (9.750), Morgan Balzer (9.725), Kasey Fillmore (9.700) and Jenna Wirtanen (9.700).
Guy, while leading the Falcons on the floor, also finished third in the all-around with a score of 38.625.
The Falcons scored a 48.025 on vault, their fifth-best score of the season. Leading the way was Andrea Kinzer (9.700), Wirtenan (9.675) and Jholeen Ponce (9.600).
The uneven bars seemed to give the Falcons fits all afternoon long, but scores by Amber Brewer (9.750), Guy (9.700) and Ponce (9.600) kept the Orange and Brown in the meet. As a team the Falcons scored 47.825 on the uneven bars.
BGSU had a strong performance on beam, scoring 48.000. It's the fourth time in the last five meets the Falcons score at least 48.000 on beam. Individually Bowling Green was led by Guy (9.675), Ponce (9.620), Fillmore (9.600) and Queenita Gamble (9.600).
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Denton, Texas as they will compete in a quad meet with Texas Women's, Arkansas and Penn. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. est.
