In the first installment of the “Countdown to Troy” BGSUFalcons.com sat down with Nick Torresso and his position coach, Sean Spencer, as the Falcons opened their 2009 training camp on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Torresso will be one of many new faces on the defensive line in 2009. Combined with six freshman from the 2009 recruiting class, Torrosso will be joined by Kevin Alvarado, Brandon Jackson, Andrew Johnson, Angelo Magnone, Darius Smith, Carlos Tipton and Nick Tumminello in the trenches.

• After the departure of all four starting defensive lineman, Torresso is expected to see an expanded roll in 2009.
• Has played in 20 games over the past two seasons, including three starts.
• He had a season-high four tackles at home versus Miami, but missed his career-best, set in 2007, with seven tackles versus Ohio.

• Begins his first year as the Falcons' co-special team's coordinator and defensive line coach.
• Spencer spent the 2007 and 2008 season at the special team's coordinator at UMass. He also has eight years of defensive line experience, serving as an assistant coach at UMass, Hofstra and Holy Cross.
