Buffalo Handles Falcons In Four Sets

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Buffalo volleyball team set the early tone in its match with Bowling Green by hitting .533 in the opening set and defeating the Falcons 25-19, 26-28, 25-15, 25-20 in Mid-American Conference action Saturday.
Shari Luther had 17 kills and hit .457 while Corey Domek added 15 kills, 10 in Bowling Green's second set victory. Freshman setter Allison Kearney finished with a double-double with 43 assists and a team-high 14 digs. Another freshman, Ashley Herzberg had 11 digs.
Buffalo had 18 kills and just two errors in 30 swings in that opening set and then consistently hit between .265 and .290 the rest of the match. Bowling Green peaked at .432 in set two but had just 23 kills and 19 attack errors the rest of the way.
"It was a tough weekend," Head Coach Denise Van De Walle said. "But we have time to build. We're young and inexperienced and that shows at times. We will be fine."
Buffalo improved to 10-5 overall and 1-1 in MAC play with the win. Bowling Green falls to 7-9 overall and 0-2 in the MAC. The Falcons will host Miami (Ohio) Thursday at 7 p.m. in the final match of a four-match homestand.
