Falcon Golfers Get "Social" at Kenwood Elementary Event
October 15, 2010 | Women's Golf
Prior to their season ending tournament at the Duramed MAC Preview, the Bowling Green State University took a time out to give back to the Bowling Green community.
On Thursday night (Oct. 14) from 5 to 8 p.m., the Falcons spent time at Kenwood Elementary School by helping out with the school's ice cream social.
The team helped serve ice cream, pizza and other refreshments. They also announced winners of various prizes, including cakes decorated for Halloween and raffle items. The Falcons helped with the Book Fair that was also taking place, and the athletes signed autographs and spent time with the many students who attended.
Head coach Stephanie Young said that the team had a wonderful time with the students and their parents, as well as the others who staffed the event.
Coach Young added, "Being involved outside the classroom and golf course, particularly in the Bowling Green community, and developing our student-athletes as young women are very high priorities for the BGSU women's golf program. We want to be intentional about giving back and helping others, in the same way that so many help our program be successful.
"As a coach, I am so proud of the efforts and attitudes of my players. They truly strive to bring their best every single day," Young concluded. "It's rewarding to see them share and model that with these younger students."
