Mohler, Prochaska Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week
November 22, 2010 | General, Ice Hockey, Women's Basketball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Brett Mohler and women's basketball player Lauren Prochaska.
Male Athlete of the Week
Brett Mohler, a freshman from Yorba Linda, Calif., was the catalyst for the BGSU hockey offense in Friday night's 4-3 loss to No. 6 Miami (Ohio). Mohler scored a pair of goals, one of which came shorthanded. In the first period, he converted a turnover in the neutral zone into the team's first shorthanded goal since Feb. 21, 2009 to even the score at 1-1. He followed with an even-strength goal in the third and finished the weekend with a +3 on-ice rating for the weekend. The multi-goal game was the first for any BGSU player this year.
Female Athlete of the Week
Lauren Prochaska, a senior from Plain City, Ohio, averaged 18.7 points and 7.3 rebounds as the BGSU women's basketball team went 3-0 on the week, winning by an average of 35.3 points per game. Prochaska led the team in scoring, rebounding, and steals, tying for the team lead in assists. She had 21 points and seven rebounds in a win over Creighton and added 24 points and 10 rebounds in just 24 minutes in a win over Youngstown State. She added 11 points against Oakland, all in the frist half, posting five rebounds and six assists.
