Bowling Green State University junior Christine Chiricosta has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made by the conference office Friday (Feb. 19). Chiricosta earns the award for the second time this season, having also been so honored on Jan. 22.
Chiricosta, a native of Avon Lake, Ohio (Avon Lake H.S.), earns the honor went 3-1 as the Falcons split a pair of matches last week, beating Detroit and losing at Michigan State. The Falcons downed the Titans at the Perrysburg Tennis Center and lost on the road to MSU, both by 5-2 scores.
Chiricosta was dominant in her two singles wins, defeating UDM's Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom by a 6-2, 6-1 result, then topping MSU's Michaela Silesova by a 6-1, 6-1 result. In doubles, she teamed with freshman Maddy Eccleston for an 8-6 win over UDM at the top flight. That duo lost a narrow 8-7 (4) decision at Michigan State.

She is deadlocked for 17th on the BG doubles wins list, with 54, and is 19th on the combined career list, with 110 wins as a Falcon.
