Jakubowski, Larson Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green senior Marc Larson and junior Joe Jakubowski were named ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive year. The award is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

In order to qualify for the team, an athlete must have a 3.30 grade point average or better, be at least a sophomore, and be a starter or key reserve.

Larson has a 3.97 grade point average in engineering technology and started the team's first 10 games before moving into a role off the bench. Since that time, he has been the first post player off the bench and is averaging 4.8 points and 3.9 rebounds on the season. He is also a highly effective free-throw shooter, making 81.8 percent of his attempts on the season. He is tied for second on the team with 14 blocked shots as well.

Jakubowski has a 3.32 grade point average and has started all 20 games for Bowling Green at the point guard position. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.35 assists per game, while shooting 38.7 percent from three-point range. He leads the Falcons with 26 steals and ranks among the top 100 in the country in assist/turnover ratio.

Bowling Green joined Cornell, La Salle, Butler, and Northwestern State as the only programs in the country to have two players selected to one of the eight All-District teams. Jakubowski and Larson joined Dayton's Kurt Huelsman, Wright State's Cooper Land, and Michigan's Zack Novak on the District 4 team. All athletes selected for the First Team All-District team will be put on the ballot for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team.
