LAST TIME OUT
Bowling Green (6-7-1) had its most successful weekend of the season after earning three wins in a sweep of the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (7-10) this weekend. The Falcons combined for 37 runs in their trio of wins, highlighted with 19 runs in their 19-10 win on Saturday in the first game of their double header. In all three games the Falcons sported a majority of their offense in the last three innings of the game, scoring 23 of their 37 runs in the final three innings of each contest. Patrick O'Brien recorded his first win and save of his career in each game of their Saturday afternoon doubleheader in 19-10 and 7-6 wins over the Colonels.
THE FALCONS AGAINST THE MOUNTAINEERS AND CHIPS
vs. West Virginia: 2-1 (first meeting in 2000)
The last time these two teams met in 2001, the Falcons pulled out a 10-7 win in Morgantown, WV when a four-run ninth inning completed the come-from-behind victory for BGSU. Eight of the Falcons' 10 runs were scored in the last three innings of that game (sounds familiar, doesn't it? - see LAST TIME OUT note above)
vs. Central Michigan: 36-57-1 (first meeting in 1971)
The game with CMU will be considered a non-conference match and will be the only time this season CMU and BGSU will meet. Last year, BGSU won the regular season series set in a pair of victories (14-10 and 11-4) in early April. They lost twice to CMU, once in the regular season (5-4) and again in the first round of the MAC tournament, 6-2.

FIVE MINUTES WITH... HEAD COACH DANNY SCHMITZ
“(T)OWERING (J)ACKS” BLANTON?
After having games two and three in a series with Eastern Kentucky (3/20) were rescheduled for a doubleheader, no Falcon took advantage of the long day more than T.J. Blanton. On the day, Blanton hit four home runs, including a career high three jacks in game one of the doubleheader against the Colonels in a 19-10 win. Blanton hit two-run home runs in each of his first three at-bats in a game where he finished going 4-for-5. Blanton finished with seven RBI in the game, also a new career high and one short of tying a program game-high shared by four former Falcons. His four hits also tied a career high set last season. Not finished, Blanton hit his fourth home run in the second game of the day, another two-run homer. Blanton finished the day going 5-for-8 with four homeruns and nine RBI between both games.
BLANTON NAMED MAC EAST POW
The Mid-American Conference office announced on 3/22 that outfielder T.J. Blanton was named the MAC East Player of the Week after his four home run, nine RBI performance against Eastern Kentucky this weekend. Blanton had a career day in the first of two games played on Saturday, March 20 when he went 4-for-5 at the plate, belting home runs in each of his first three at-bats. He ended his seven RBI game with a two run single in his last at-bat as a part of a nine-run eighth inning that sealed a 19-10 win for the Falcons. Blanton also added two steals on the day. His four hits tied a career-high he set last season while his three home runs and seven RBI in a game set new career marks in those categories. In game two of that set on Saturday, Blanton added his fourth home run of the day with a two-out, two-RBI homer that was part of the four-run sixth inning that marked their second come-from-behind victory of the day. He finished the weekend hitting 7-for-13 (.538) with a .538 on-base percentage. He stole three bases and in the field made 11 put outs over the course of the series. His weekend slugging percentage ended with a team-high 1.462 mark and amounted 19 total bases in that time.
RICHMOND SERVES AS HOME FOR FALCON FIRSTS
While in Richmond, Kentucky playing Eastern Kentucky University, several Falcons racked up one or more 'firsts' in their careers. Freshman Patrick O'Brien earned his first win and save on the same day after tossing 1.1 innings of near-flawless baseball against the Colonels. Matthew Pitzulo hit his first career homerun which jump started a nine-run eighth inning in the Falcons' 19-10 win on March 20.
WINNING STREAKS ARE GOOD; NON-LOSING STREAKS AREN'T BAD EITHER
Bowling Green currently is riding a three game winning streak after sweeping the Eastern Kentucky Colonels by a combined score of 37-25, but the Falcons have not lost a game since a come-from-behind loss to Rhode Island (3/7), 9-8 in Winter Haven, Flor., spanning six games. In those six games, the Falcons are batting .382 as a team and have outscored the competition by 20 runs (63-43). They have slugged over 120 points better than their opponents (.628 - .503) and have struck out 16 fewer times. In that time, the Falcons are 12-of-18 (.666) in attempted steals while BG catchers have caught four-of-six (.666) opposing runners. On an individual note, T.J. Blanton is hitting .565 (13-for-23) and slugging 1.261 (7 extra base hits, 29 total bases) with 13 RBI and four home runs over the last six games.
