Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Athletic Department has announced today a celebration of Anderson Arena titled “Closing the Doors of the House that Roars”. The men's and women's basketball teams and volleyball team will play the final year in Anderson Arena in 2010-11 before moving to the Stroh Center for the following year.
“Anderson Arena has a special place in BGSU history,” Director of Athletics Greg Christopher said. “The next year represents a unique opportunity as we transition from Anderson to the Stroh Center. We have a series of opportunities to celebrate the people and teams that have made Anderson Arena so memorable, plus plans for the opening of the Stroh Center. This is a year-long effort with many ways for our fans to participate in and celebrate the history of Anderson Arena.”
Information will be available through the “Closing the Doors of the House that Roars” webpage on BGSUFalcons.com. The first segment of the initiative begins today and involves accepting nominations for All-Anderson teams as well as submitting of Anderson Arena memories by fans and alumni. Those memories will be released on BGSUFalcons.com throughout the coming year.
Along with the initial stage, numerous events are planned throughout the coming year. Recognition of the All-Anderson Teams, a “throwback” game, numerous ceremonies and dinners, and an opportunity to participate in the naming of the student section in Stroh Center are all planned. Fans are encouraged to visit the webpage on a regular basis for new events and announcements.
