The Bowling Green State University football team has announced its captains for the 2010 season. Ben Bojicic, Eugene Fells, Willie Geter and Calvin Wiley will captain the Falcons next season.
Bojicic will begin his third year as the Falcons' starting center, having started 22 games the past two season, since being named a starter as a red-shirt freshman in 2008. Bojicic, who is the lone junior captain for 2010, was on the preseason 2009 Remington Award Watch List (nation's top center) and helped lead a Falcon offensive line that allowed just 27 sacks in 13 contests.
Geter, along with Bojicic, make up two-thirds of the Falcons' returning starters from a year ago. The Miami, Fla., native set career-highs in games started (12), carries (176), yards (705), touchdowns (9), receptions (37) and receiving yards (342) in 2009. Geter, who stands at 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, finished last year playing his best football, recording 114 yards and three touchdowns versus Toledo and added 96 yards and two scores versus Idaho in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho.
Fells played in all 13 games in 2009, recording a career-high 44 tackles (21 solo). The senior-to-be from Palatka, Fla., recorded a sack versus Central Michigan, but had his strongest game of the year versus the arch-rival Toledo Rockets where he had six tackles, forced a fumble and blocked a punt.
Wiley, a native of Detroit, Mich., will be entering his sixth season with the Falcons. Wiley missed all of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons with injuries, but played in 12 games in 2006 after red-shirting in 2005.
