BGSU Sits in Fourth After Day One of Falcon Invitational

The Bowling Green State University women's golf team battled the cold and windy conditions on Saturday afternoon to sit in fourth-place after 18 holes with a team score of 333. It was 38 degrees when the teams began play with winds ranging from 17-25 mph.
Toledo leads the field with a team score of 317, followed by Western Michigan (330) and Eastern Illinois (332). Other Mid-American Conference schools that participated were Ohio (334) and Northern Illinois (334), both are currently tied for fifth.
Susy Grunden led the way for the Falcons, carding an 80 on Saturday afternoon. The freshman was five over after eight holes, but battled the tough conditions, playing the final 10 holes at just three-over par, including birdies on both par fives on the back nine. Grunden enters Sunday's round five shots off the lead, currently tied for sixth.
Lauren Glew had a similar story to Grunden on Saturday. The junior opened with a 44, but carded a 39 on the back-nine, including a pair of birdies on both par-5's. Glew had three birdies on the day which leads the 66-player field. Overall, Glew is tied for 14th.
Her twin sister, Marisa Glew is tied for 23rd after firing an 85 (43-42). She played the four par-3's just one-over par.
Also competing for the Falcons were freshman Amy Ruthenberg (39-46 -- 85, T-23rd), senior Hannah Lambert (45-44 -- 89, T-41st), freshman Jen Blanchard (48-42 -- 90, T-47th) and sophomore Paula DiFrancesco (46-48 -- 94, 57th).
Sunday's action will begin at 9 a.m. with groups going off of holes one and nine. BGSU's tee times are below:
