The Bowling Green State University women's golf team fired a 321 on day two at the MAC Championships in Fisher, Ind., to sit in a tie for eighth with Northern Illinois with a team score of 656. The Falcons' improved by 14 shots between rounds one and two.
All five Falcons improved upon their round one scores to help in the 14-stroke improvement.
Kent State continues to lead the nine-team field with a score of 592, followed by Eastern Michigan (602) and Ball State (605) to round out the top three.
Susy Grunden leads the way for the Orange and Brown, carding a 76 on day two. While the 76 was impressive, the freshman entered the 17th hole at 1-under par but finished with a double and triple-bogey on the final two holes. Grunden climbed two spots among the 45-player field to sit in a tie for 16th and now needs to shot a 76 (or better) on Sunday to earn the lowest single season scoring average ever by a Falcon.
Grunden's classmate, Amy Ruthenberg shot an 81 on Saturday, which included a triple bogey on the 17th hole. Ruthenberg is second on the team with a score of 167. The freshman is currently tie for 38th.
Also competing for the Falcons were Lauren Glew (86-82 -- 168, 40th), Marisa Glew (85-84 -- 169, T-41st) and Hannah Lambert (90-82 -- 172, T-43rd).
The third and final round begins Sunday morning.
