Jermaine Truax Named Director For Compliance & Certification
July 26, 2010 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio- Bowling Green State University Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services Mark Shook has announced the hiring of Jermaine Truax as Director of Compliance and Certification. Truax, who previously served as the Director of Compliance at St. Bonaventure University, will begin his duties on July 28.
“Jermaine stood out from the beginning of the search as a talented, energetic and bright young professional,” Shook said. “His duties at St. Bonaventure mirror what we will ask of him here at BGSU in this administrative leadership role.”
Prior to being named Director of Compliance at St. Bonaventure, Truax served as the Coordinator of Internal Operations at St. Bonaventure from August 2008-August 2009. Truax has also served as an Assistant Football Coach for Defensive Backs at Alfred State College in New York since August 2008.
While at Bowling Green, Truax will be primarily responsible for monitoring all areas of compliance with NCAA, MAC, and CCHA rules and regulations on behalf of BGSU, its faculty, staff, student-athletes, and persons with BGSU athletics interest.
“St. Bonaventure is a unique place where I have great affection for the people so the decision to leave was difficult,” Truax said. “But, I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to become a Falcon and there is a clear commitment to the success of the student-athletes both academically and athletically. I can't wait to get started with this talented group of student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.”
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Health & Physical Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Truax received his Masters of Science in Sport Management from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in July of 2008. During his studies, Truax also served as an intern for the San Jose Sabercats and Buffalo Bills.
“It's never fun losing good people, but the fact that Jermaine is going to a place like Bowling Green makes it a little easier,” St. Bonaventure Athletics Director Steve Watson, who is a 1990 BGSU graduate, said. “He's going to be working with some very good people in their athletic department. He has been a huge asset for our department and I'm certain he will be the same at Bowling Green.”
