“How do the Falcons replace Freddie Barnes?” This has been a daily question from the media following just about every practice since BGSU took the field. Barnes, who caught an NCAA record 155 passes in 2009 has taken his game to the National Football League, but what returns might surprise some people.
Adrian Hodges is the top wideout returning after recording 46 catches for 417 yards and two scores in 2009. Ray Hutson returns for his third year after catching 28 passes for 239 yards and is joined by Justus Jones (13 rec., 143 yards) and Tyrone Pronty, who caught six passes in the win over Troy, but suffered a season-ending foot injury in the same game. The fifth-year senior has 30 career receptions.
Other players such as Kamar Jorden, Jordan Hopgood, Eugene Cooper, Shaun Joplin and Calvin Wiley are also expected to contribute. Wiley, who has been with the team since 2005 was recently granted a sixth year of eligibility earlier this year.
