BGSU (0-2) got out to a fast start after senior Angelo Magnone recovered a fumble at the Tulsa 44-yardline on the opening drive of the game. The Falcons drove 44 yards on 14 plays, capped by a one-yard Matt Schilz touchdown run. Schilz was 7-for7 on the drive.
Tulsa answered with a 20-0 run before BGSU's Dwayne Woods intercepted a Tulsa pass and returned it to the Golden Hurricane's 1-yardline. Senior Captain Willie Geter plunged in for a one-yard score on the next play to get the score to 20-14, but Tulsa answered with a 74 yard drive in less than a minute to regain the two-score lead.
The Falcons looked to have scored as time expired in the first half but Jorden was called for pass interference in the Tulsa end zone to negate the score.
To start the second half Jorden once again looked to have scored on a 79-yard touchdown pass from Schilz, but a holding penalty wiped the seven points off the scoreboard.
Following a Tulsa touchdown and a pair of field goals to extend the lead to 33-14, Schilz added his second rushing score of the game on a naked bootleg from the 2-yardline.
Schilz finished the game 29-of-40 for 262 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Willie Geter led the Falcons in rushing with 50 yards on 15 carries and Kamar Jorden led the Orange and Brown with 14 catches for 168 yards.
Notes
Matt Schilz went 7-for-7, completing passes to four different receivers, on the Falcons opening drive, capped by a one-yard touchdown run, the first of his career. Schilz later added a two-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Eugene Copper, who had his first career punt return touchdown last week versus Troy, recorded his first career reception (six yards) in the first quarter on a third-and-five. Freshman Tyler Beck recorded his first career catch a drive later, also for six yards.
With the Falcons trailing 20-7 late in the second quarter Dwayne Woods recorded his first career interception, and nearly took it to the house, returning it to the Tulsa 1-yard-line. Willie Geter scored on the following play.
Kamar Jorden had a pair of touchdowns taken away due to penalties. On the final play of the second quarter Jorden was called for offensive pass interference, wiping away a 47-yard score. On the Falcons next offensive play Jorden scored on a 79-yard pass play from Schilz, but was lost due to a holding penalty.
In two career starts, Jorden has two 100-yard games. Last week versus Troy, Jorden finished with nine grabs for 111 yards and added 14 catches for 168 yards versus TU. His 14 catch performance against Tulsa marks the fifth most catches in a single game in BGSU history. Jorden's two game total now stands at 23 catches for 279 yards.
Bryan Wright averaged 48.0 yards on six punts including a career-long 68-yarder. Wright added a pair of touchbacks on four kickoffs.
Jovan Leacock recorded 11 tackles, and now has two double-digit tackle performances in two games.
