BGSU Lands in Tenth Place After Day One of Cardinal Classic

Susy Grunden in Ninth Place; Leads All Falcons
DAY ONE RESULTS
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team traveled this week to Muncie, Ind. for the 36-hole Ball State Cardinal Classic.
After taking a week off following their seven-day journey to Texas and North Carolina, the Falcons began the Cardinal Classic on Monday (Sept. 27) with a team total of 311 over the first 18 holes.
The team placed tenth out of the 14 teams at the tournament, finishing the day ahead of Oakland, Indiana State, Dayton, and Mid-American Conference foe Northern Illinois.
The top four schools are grouped together with scores from 297 to 300. MAC teams Ohio and Western Michigan are tied for the tournament lead. After that, fifth place IUPUI is only five strokes ahead of the Falcons at 306. Each of the next four teams is progressively one stroke worse
Tournament host Ball State is currently seventh with a score of 308.
Sophomore Susy Grunden leads the Falcons after a first-round 74 that vaults her into a nine-way tie for ninth place. She enters the final round only four strokes behind the tournament leader.
Bailey Arnold carded a 78 to rank second on the Falcons' squad, earning a tie for 34th place.
Sophomore Amy Ruthenberg and junior Paula DiFrancesco have only one shot separating each other in the standings, as Ruthenberg posted an 18-hole total of 79, while DiFrancesco shot 80 on the day.
Senior Marisa Glew played for the first time this season and finished with a day's total of 83.
Glew's sister and fellow senior, Lauren, played as an individual. She leads all individual players and is tied for 34th after posting 78 for the first 18 holes.
The final 18 holes on this par-72, 6,258-yard course will begin Tuesday (Sept. 28) morning at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
