HEBRON, Ky. -- Charlie Olson posted a pair of 73s on Monday (Oct. 10) to pace the Bowling Green State University men's golf team as the Falcons ended the first day at the 2011 Bearcat Invitational in 15th place.
Olson has been BGSU's most consistent player of late and owns six consecutive rounds of 74 or better. His first-day total of 146 earned a tie for 17th place and is only three strokes outside of the top ten.
If Olson maintains his place in the standings on Tuesday, it would be his fourth top-20 finish in five events.
As a team, the Falcons struggled to rounds of 309 and 299 on Monday for a 36-hole total of 608. They are currently last among the 15 teams in the field and trail 14th-place Youngstown State by seven strokes.
Parker Hewit fired a 74 in the second round and will enter the second day of the event with a composite 154. He is followed by Wes Gates (155), Torey Brummett (156) and Drew Preston (157).
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Final results will be available on BGSUFalcons.com on Tuesday evening.
