Jones Named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

Chris Jones, a member of the Bowling Green State University football team, was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Falcons to a 13-10 win over Temple on Saturday.
Jones, a native of Brownsburg, Ind., had six tackles and three sacks in the win over Temple. Jones and the Falcon defense held the Owls to 284 yards of offense, including just 66 through the air.
The junior has 32 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks on the season. His sack total is the eighth-most in school history and currently leads the MAC.
This is the second time in 2011 that Jones earned the award. He opened the season with two sacks, a forced fumble and a safety in the 32-15 win at Idaho.
In eight weeks, the Falcons have seven conference player of the week honors.
