December 15, 2011 | Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer
BGSU one of just two MAC schools to have both programs recognized
The Bowling Green State University men's and women's soccer programs have earned academic honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Both teams have received the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year, the NSCAA office recently announced.
The NSCAA Team Academic Award is given to soccer programs that have achieved a minimum team grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The BGSU women's soccer program earns the honor for the second time in three years. The Falcons of head coach Andy Richards had a team GPA of 3.58 during the '10-11 academic year, tying for ninth in the nation among NCAA Division-I programs.
The men's program, under the direction of head coach Eric Nichols, was also recognized, with a GPA of 3.14 in 2010-11. Nichols' team was recognized for the second consecutive season, having posted a 3.12 team GPA in the 2009-10 academic year.
Bowling Green is one of just two Mid-American Conference schools to have both the men's and women's soccer programs honored by the NSCAA this season. Akron is the other.
