ESPNU Selects BGSU vs. Miami Matchup For Television
February 04, 2011 | Men's Basketball
Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference has announced today that the upcoming men's basketball game between Miami and Bowling Green has been selected for the conference's national February basketball television package on ESPNU.
Head Coach Louis Orr and the Falcons will look to go into Millett Hall and win one on the road against Charlie Coles and the RedHawks on Saturday, February 26th at 11 a.m.
Bowling Green is 6-2 in MAC play for the first time since the 2004-05 season. That team ended 18-11 overall and 10-8 in league action. The Falcons have not gone 7-2 to open league action since the 1999-00 team went 22-8 overall and won a MAC East Division crown at 14-4. Scott Thomas has scored in double-figures in eight consecutive games since being held scoreless in a win at St. Louis. He is averaging 15.4 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field during that stretch. He has had at least one steal in each of those games (and at least two in seven of the contests) and is averaging 7.1 rebounds.
The RedHawks are currently a game behind the Falcons at 5-3 and are led by junior forward Julian Mavunga. Mavunga is the only player in the MAC to lead his team in points (14.6 ppg.), rebounds (6.9 rpg.) and assists (2.9 apg.). This season Miami has faced four teams currently ranked among the Top 25 in the country, with all four ranked among the top seven. The RedHawks have faced No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Kansas, No. 5 Duke and No. 7 San Diego State.
