Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Brandon Howard and women's basketball player Lauren Prochaska.
Male Athlete of the Week
Brandon Howard, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, went 9-for-14 (.643 batting average) with three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base during a three-game weekend set with Cleveland State. He highlighted the week with a 5-for-5 effort Sunday. All three of his RBI came during Saturday night's 3-for-7 performance. He had a two-RBI single up the middle in the 13th inning, scoring the eventual game-winning run in a 9-7 victory.
Female Athlete of the Week
Lauren Prochaska, a senior from Plain City, Ohio, tied for game-high honors with 19 points in a 69-58 loss to Georgia Tech in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
