With just one month to go before they arrive on campus, here is a brief update about some accomplishments they have achieved over the past couple of months:
Patricia Holt (Frisco, Texas / Frisco) recently competed at the 31st annual Bubba Conlee National Junior Golf Tournament. At the event, held July 6-8 in Bartlett, Tenn. at the Quail Ridge Golf Club, Holt finished fifth overall in a field of 42. Her final tally of 223 included back-to-back rounds of even-par 72. Holt's 72 in the third round tied for the best score of the round, and she was one of only two golfers in the event with two rounds of par or better.
In the final round, Holt sank four birdies, two of which occurred over the final four holes.
Earlier in the summer, Holt earned an award for her achievement in the classroom, as she was presented with the Texas University Interscholastic League Scholar Award. The UIL Scholar Award is presented to those who graduate in the top ten percent of their class and participate in at least one UIL academic, music or athletic competition.
Wilson finished the 36-hole event with three birdies and had a top-ten score in each round. Her first-round total of 73 was fifth overall, while the 75 in her final round placed seventh.
Wilson, Holt and the rest of the 2011-12 Falcons are tentatively scheduled to make their season debut on September 10th and 11th at the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State University.
