Falcons To Host Morehead State For Sears BracketBusters Game

Bowling Green, Ohio – For the second time in six years, the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will face Morehead State, from the Ohio Valley Conference, in the annual Sears BracketBusters series on Feb. 18. The contest is set for a 2 p.m. tip time in the brand new Stroh Center.
Bowling Green has competed in the event for all 10 years of its existence, posting a 5-4 record in the first nine years of BracketBusters play. The Falcons defeated Morehead State on the road 90-72 on Feb. 17, 2007. That is the only other time in which Bowling Green has faced an Ohio Valley Conference school in the event.
The Falcons won the return trip the next year, posting an 86-70 victory over the Eagles on Nov. 17, 2008 which also happened to be head coach Louis Orr's first home game in his five-year tenure at Bowling Green.
Bowling Green is 4-3 all-time against Morehead State in a series that began on Dec. 28, 1955, a 111-79 Morehead victory.
Morehead State is 12-11 on the season and has a 5-4 mark in OVC play. The Eagles are 1-1 against Mid-American Conference schools this year, losing to Kent State 83-63 and defeating Ball State 62-54. A year ago, Morehead State went 25-10 and upset Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Richmond 65-48.
Bowling Green is 1-0 against Ohio Valley Conference schools this year, defeating Austin Peay 82-72 in the Stroh Center as part of the Progressive CBE Classic.
In all, Bowling Green has faced Horizon League schools six times in the BracketBusters series (Youngstown State twice, Illinois-Chicago, Wright State, Detroit, and Valparaiso), one Sun Belt school (Arkansas Little Rock), and one Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference school (Canisius). A year ago, Bowling Green lost at Youngstown State 83-76 in BracketBusters. The Falcons lost a BracketBusters return game earlier this year at Valparaiso 82-79.
