Bayer Named to John Mackey Midseason Watch List

Bethpage, N.Y. (October 15, 2012) - The Nassau County Sports Commission, sponsored by Briarcliffe College, has released the 2012 John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List and Bowling Green's Alex Bayer was named to that list.
Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the 2012 John Mackey winner will be presented live on December 6, 2012 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show airing at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
Bayer has a career-high 22 receptions for 294 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Earlier this season he posted career-highs in catches (5), yards (94) and touchdowns (2) in the Falcons' 24-10 come-from-behind win at Akron.
The junior is also part of an offensive unit that is averaging over 170 yards per game on the ground and has helped the rushing attack to three straight 200 yard games and 749 yards in the past three contests combined.
