Falcon Baseball Names 2013 Captains

Cody Apthorpe and T.J. Losby will be co-captains for 2013
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—Head Coach Danny Schmitz has named Cody Apthorpe and #T.J. Losby# co-captains for the 2013 season. They will lead a Falcon team that returns 12-of-14 starters from 2012. This will mark the second straight season that Apthorpe has represented the Falcons as a captain.
Apthorpe, a native of Windham, Ohio, will be a redshirt junior in 2013. He came into 2012 as the Falcons' ace, but suffered a season-ending injury against Central Michigan on March 30. In that March 30 game, Apthorpe went 8.2 innings, allowing just one earned run. Apthorpe started seven games in 2012 prior to the injury.
Losby, a native of Bryan, Ohio, will be a junior in 2013. As the Falcons' starting catcher in 2012, he started 47 games, and was the only Falcon to appear in every contest. Losby also saw time at first base throughout the season. As a sophomore, Losby led the team in RBI with 37. Losby batted .319, and his 14 extra base hits (nine 2B, two 3B, three HR) were second on the team.
Apthorpe and Losby will lead a young, but experienced roster in 2013. With just two seniors on the roster in 2013, the Falcons will turn to experienced sophomore and junior classes to step up.
The 2013 Falcons will begin the season at Western Kentucky, with a three-game series beginning on February 15.
