Women’s Golf Announces Two Additions
November 13, 2012 | Women's Golf
“We are very excited about Fran and Mikayla joining the BGSU women's golf program,” said Young. “Both have a passion for the game and resumes to prove their talent both in the classroom and on the golf course. They will be an outstanding pair for this 2013 Class. The most impressive thing that caught my eye throughout the recruiting process though was the character and integrity of both these young women. They have a deep desire to excel in all areas of life which is a perfect fit for us.”
Baer currently attends Woodmore High School, located in Elmore, Ohio. She is a four-year letter-winner for the Wildcats and has been coached by Steve Burner. As a senior she earned first-team All-Ohio honors and finished fifth at the state tournament. Baer is the only female golfer in school history to advance to the district or state tournament and holds the school record with a 68.
“Mikayla is an explosive player who has experience at every level of competition,” said Young. “She is a competitor, hits the golf ball a mile, and has a natural feel for the game - a pretty great combination for a coach. It will be a privilege to come alongside Mikayla and help her grow and develop as a college golfer.”
Rodriguez currently attends Flower Mound High School in Flower Mound, Texas. Rodriguez is a four-year letter-winner
“Fran has a work ethic and discipline that is unparalleled,” said Young. “When you add that with her contagious attitude, talent, and experience on the TJGT, it was clear she was a player we had to have for our program. I look forward to coaching Fran to her full potential as a collegiate golfer here at BGSU.”
The Falcons are currently on hiatus after having arguably their greatest fall season in school history, capturing two tournament wins and finishing second three different times. BGSU will return to action in early March.
