A’uston Calhoun Named MAC East Player of the Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University junior forward A'uston Calhoun has been named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Calhoun averaged 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Falcons won at Ball State and beat rival Toledo during the week.
Calhoun earned his first career MAC Player of the Week award by scoring at least 20 points in both games, posting his second double-double of the season against Toledo, and guiding the Falcons into a tie for fourth place in the MAC, putting the team into position for one of the byes into the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
In a 61-54 win over Ball State, Calhoun scored 17 second-half points as the Falcons won late. He scored 13 consecutive BGSU points after Ball State took a three-point lead early in the second half. He finished with 27 points and nine rebounds on 11-of-21 shooting, adding three assists.
In Saturday's 66-63 win over Toledo, Calhoun posted 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Falcons overcame a 13-point second half deficit. He was 10-of-18 shooting in front of the largest crowd in the short history of the new Stroh Center.
Bowling Green has won four consecutive games to improve to 13-11, two games over .500 for the first time since being 5-3. The Falcons are also 7-4 in MAC play, tied with Ohio for fourth place in the league standings. Bowling Green will face the Bobcats Wednesday night in Athens looking for a season-sweep of its divisional foe at 7 p.m.
