CAREER STATS OF 2011-12 FALCONS
QUICK HITS
• The Falcons are coming off a 60-55 win at Akron on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 18) ... senior Jessica Slagle led the Falcons with 15 points, and redshirt junior Danielle Havel scored all 10 of her points in the second half ... the outcome was in doubt until the final seconds, as a potential game-tying three-point try by Akron was off the mark ... redshirt sophomore Alexis Rogers came up with the rebound and got the ball to Slagle, who was fouled and hit two shots from the stripe with 0.6 seconds remaining
• For the Falcons, Saturday's win clinched a tie for the MAC's East Division title ... 2012 marks the eighth consecutive year, and the 13th time in school history, that BGSU will win some sort of regular-season title.
• Prior to the Akron game, the Falcons picked up a 62-52 home win over Buffalo on Wednesday (Feb. 15) ... that victory clinched a top-four spot in the regular-season standings for BG, giving the Falcons a berth in the league tournament quarterfinals ... in effect, the Falcons have earned a 'double bye' and are looking to secure a 'triple bye' and a berth into the semifinals of the tourney.
• Under the new MAC Tournament format, obviously, the top-four seeds receive multiple byes in 2012 ... the third and fourth seeds will earn berths in the quarterfinals, with seeds one and two being placed directly into the semifinal round ... put another way, a team seeded first or second will need to win only two MAC Tournament games to capture the title, while the third or fourth seed would need three wins ... any team seeded fifth through 12th will need to reel off five consecutive wins to capture the tourney crown ... seeding is based on conference winning percentage, regardless of division.
• Currently, BGSU sits atop the MAC at 12-1 ... Eastern Michigan and Toledo each are a game back with 11-2 records, while Miami is fourth at 9-4 ... Bowling Green is three games ahead of MU with three to play, and the Falcons currently hold the tiebreaker with the RedHawks ... those two teams meet on Saturday (Feb. 25) at the Stroh Center ... the Falcons also hold the tiebreaker with EMU, but Toledo holds the tiebreaker with BG, having handed the Falcons their only MAC loss to date.
• In the win over Buffalo, Slagle scored a game-high 19 points, and went 6-for-6 at the free-throw line in the final minute to seal the victory ... Slagle has led BGSU in scoring in five of the last seven games, including in each of last week's two wins.
• As mentioned, BGSU currently owns the best record in the MAC ... the Falcon men's team is enjoying success this season as well, with a league record of 7-5 heading into the week ... the Falcon men's and women's squads have a combined MAC record of 19-6 this season, two games better than any other conference member ... the complete list can be found in the PDF version of these notes.
• Junior Allison Papenfuss had a solid game at Akron ... she scored a season-high nine points vs. the Zips, and also had six rebounds (including three offensive) and two blocked shots – tying her career best in the latter category – in just 14 minutes.
• The Falcons have allowed the opponent to score as many as 70 points just three times in the last 59 games (since the start of 2010-11) ... and, BG won all three of those games ... BGSU has yet to allow as many as 70 points in a regulation game this season ... last year, the Falcons allowed 72 points at home vs. Akron (a 90-72 BG win) and vs. Central Michigan in the MAC Tournament (an 80-72 Falcon win).
• This season, CMU is the only team to reach 70 points against the Brown and Orange, and the Chippewas needed overtime to do so ... the teams were tied at 64-64 at the end of regulation (Jan. 28), before the Falcons went on to a 77-72 victory.
• BGSU has held the opponent to fewer than 60 points in 21 of this season's first 26 games, including in 12 of the 13 MAC games to date (all but that CMU OT contest) ... the Falcons have held the foes under 50 points on six occasions this year.
• At the other end of the court, BGSU is 12-0 this season when scoring at least 70 points ... the Falcons are 31-0 since the start of last season when reaching the 70-point mark, and BG is 76-1 when scoring 70 over the last three-plus years.
• The results have been good even if the Falcons can get to just 54 points this season ... BG is 22-0 when scoring at least 54 points, and the Falcons are 0-4 when the offense is held under that total ... BGSU is averaging 69.5 points per game in the 22 wins, and just 47.0 ppg in the four losses.
• The Falcons have an overall record of 50-9 since the start of the 2010-11 season ... one of those nine losses came to Georgia Tech in the NCAA Championships ... of the eight regular-season setbacks, six have come by one or two points ... BGSU is 28-4 against MAC teams since the beginning of last season ... three of those four losses have been by a combined four points.
• Miller and his staff are performing one of their top coaching jobs in their decade-plus at BGSU, having orchestrated this season's success with a very youthful squad ... nine players on the roster are either freshmen or sophomores ... the Falcons lost six players, including four starters, from a year ago ... that group of graduates combined for nearly 5,500 points, 2,400 rebounds and 1,000 assists in their BGSU careers.
• Miller and the Falcons went 11-21 in MAC play in his first two seasons at BGSU ... in the eight-plus seasons since that time, BGSU has gone 122-19 in MAC regular-season games.
• Chrissy Steffen, just a junior, is closing in on the top 10 on BGSU's career list for three-point field goals made ... Steffen now has hit 119 triples in her BG tenure, good for the 11th-highest total in school history ... she trails 10th-place Lindsey Goldsberry (2005-09) by four treys.
• The Falcons have won 20 games in a season for the 17th time, the highest total of any MAC program ... BG has won at least 20 games in each of the last nine years, extending the program's MAC record for sustained success over so many straight seasons.
• Next month, the Stroh Center will host the first and second rounds of the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship ... the first-round games are set for Sunday, March 18, with the second-round contest scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 ... for much more information, or to order tickets, log on to the web at BGSUFalcons.com.

CHAMPIONS AGAIN
The 2011-12 season is far from over ... but, the Falcons have clinched no worse than a tie for the MAC's East Division title, meaning that BGSU has captured some sort of regular-season championship for the eighth consecutive year and the 13th time in school history ... a few more notes about that very subject ...
• BG won league regular-season championships in three consecutive years from 1986-87 to 1988-89 under head coach Fran Voll, and Jaci Clark's teams captured back-to-back crowns in the 1992-93 and '93-94 campaigns ... in 2005, the Falcons had the MAC's best overall record at 13-3, and won the West Division ... and, BG won the East Division outright six years running, with MAC marks of 16-0, 15-1, 13-3, 15-1, 14-2 and 13-3, before posting a 12-1 record this year to date.
• BGSU's 13 regular-season titles are the most of any conference institution.
• Eleven of the Falcons' first 12 MAC regular-season championships were outright crowns ... in each of the Falcons' first five championship seasons (1987, 1988, 1989, 1993 and 1994), the MAC had just one division, and BGSU had the best overall regular-season record outright ... in each of the six-straight seasons from 2005 to 2010, Curt Miller's teams not only won a division title, but also had the best overall record among all MAC schools ... last season was the only year that BG won a title without winning the overall regular-season championship.
FALCON HOOPS SUCCESS TRANSCENDS GENDER
As mentioned, BGSU currently owns the best record in the MAC ... the Falcons have had success on the men's side as well, with a league ledger of 7-5 heading into a Wednesday game at Akron ... the Falcon men's and women's squads have a combined MAC record of 19-6 this season ... the list ...
