CAREER STATS OF 2011-12 FALCONS
QUICK HITS
• The Falcons are coming off a 57-47 win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday night (Feb. 1) at the Stroh Center ... senior Jessica Slagle led the Falcons in scoring for the third consecutive game, with 14 points, while freshman Logan Pastor had 12 points, the highest total of her young career.
• BGSU is looking to extend a number of impressive winning streaks ... the Falcons have won 12 consecutive games, including all nine MAC games this season to date ... additionally, BG has won 11 games in a row at the Stroh Center ... but, the Brown and Orange lost the last time the team faced Western Michigan.
• BGSU has won 17 consecutive MAC regular-season games, and the Falcons have captured 20-straight games against conference foes, including regular-season and tournament contests ... BG won the first three MAC games last season, lost three of the next five matches, then won eight-straight games to end the regular season, following that up with three more victories in downtown Cleveland en route to the MAC Tournament title.
• Western Michigan is the last MAC team to defeat the Falcons, just over a year ago ... the Broncos, trailing by a 37-24 halftime score, came roaring back to post a 66-55 win in Kalamazoo (Jan. 29, 2011) ... WMU was the only team to defeat BG by more than one point in the 2010-11 regular season.
• Slagle, as mentioned, has led the Falcons in scoring in each of the last three games ... her career scoring high entering the Ball State game (Jan. 25) was 18 points, but she topped that total against both BSU and Central Michigan (Jan. 28) ... the Sidney, Ohio, native scored 22 points in Muncie and 18 more in Mount Pleasant ... after scoring a team-leading 14 points vs. Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Slagle is averaging 18.0 points per game in the last three contests.
• Slagle is the reigning MAC Player of the Week, having earned the honor on Monday afternoon (Jan. 30) ... it marks the third consecutive week, the fourth time in the last five weeks and the fifth time this season that a BGSU player has garnered MAC P-O-W honors.
• BG, after beginning the season with a pair of losses, has won 19 of the last 20 games ... the Falcons reeled off a seven-game win streak, suffered a two-point loss at Creighton (Dec. 18), and have won 12 consecutive contests since that setback.
• The Falcons' current win streak is BGSU's seventh of 10 games or more since the beginning of the 2005-06 season ... the other MAC teams have combined for three such streaks in during that time ... Ball State had two of those double-digit win streaks ... Miami had the third, with a 10-game streak that was snapped by the Falcons on Jan. 19.
• Overall, the current streak is the Falcons' 11th double-digit win streak in school history ... the complete list can be found in the PDF version of BGSU's game notes.
• The Falcons need one more win to reach 20 for the season ... BGSU has won 20 games 16 times in program history, the most of any MAC program ... and, the 2010-11 season was the eighth consecutive year that BG posted 20 or more wins, also a MAC record for consecutive seasons of such sustained success.
• BGSU finished the month of January with a perfect 8-0 record ... it is the third time in the last two years, and the eighth time since the beginning of the 2007-08 season, that the Falcons have gone undefeated over an entire month.
• Under the new MAC Tournament format, the top-four seeds will receive multiple byes in 2012 ... the third and fourth seeds will earn berths in the quarterfinals, with seeds one and two being placed directly into the semifinal round ... currently, BGSU sits atop the MAC ... three teams – Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo – are two games back with 7-2 records ... Kent State and Central Michigan, currently sitting in the fifth and sixth spots, respectively, are five games back ... both the Golden Flashes and the Chippewas are 4-5 in league action heading into Saturday's games.
• The 2011-12 campaign marks the third season in a row that the Falcons have had two win streaks of at least seven games ... last season, BG had a 15-game win streak as well as an 11-game streak ... two years ago, the Falcons had a pair of eight-game streaks ... BGSU had only one such streak in 2008-09 ... but, that streak lasted a school-record 25 games from late November into early March.
• The Stroh Center will host the first and second rounds of the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship ... the first-round games are set for Sunday, March 18, with the second-round contest scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 ... for much more information, or to order tickets, log on to the web at BGSUFalcons.com.
