LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Drew Preston carded his best rounds since the opening tournament of the 2011-12 season, but the Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished play on Monday (March 26) at the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic in a tie for 13th place.
Over the first 36 holes, Preston posted scores of 75 and 72 for a total of 147. He is tied with Sam Houston State's Jordan McColl for tenth place, and the pair are one stroke behind a trio of golfers tied for seventh at two-over-par.
Preson is five strokes behind the tournament leaders; there is a three-way tie at the top at two-under-par (142). Three others are tied for fourth place at even par (144).
His even-par 72 in the second round is his best individual round since he carded a 69 in the second round of the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.
Wes Gates is tied for 44th place after shooting 77 and 76 during Monday's two rounds. Gates is four strokes outside of the top 20, as there is a ten-way tie for 14th place at 149.
Three other Falcons rounded out individual play for BGSU on Monday. Charlie Olson (76-79) finished tied for 57th place with a 155. Parker Hewit improved by four strokes in the second round but ended the day with a 158 (81-77). Torey Brummett also had a better second round and carded a 175 for the day (91-84).

Southeastern Louisiana (295-288 -- 583) leads the field after Monday's 36 holes.
