HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Bowling Green State University women's golf team slipped by two strokes and one spot in the team standings to finish tied for ninth overall on the final day of competition at the 2012 Low Country Intercollegiate. The tournament was held at Hilton Head's Moss Creek Golf Club.

On Monday (March 26), the Falcons shot 324 after posting a total of 322 on Sunday. The team's two-day total of 646 resulted in a tie with Brown University, three strokes behind Newberry University and one stroke ahead of Princeton University.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament was won by Appalachian State, who concluded the event with 621 (313-308). Tournament host Wofford College scored a 641 (325-316) and finished in sixth place.

Individually, BGSU featured three golfers in the top half of the 75-player field.

Patricia Holt was the top Bowling Green player, as she carded an 80 on Monday for a tournament total of 159 and a tie for 22nd place. She ended the event one stroke behind a group of four players tied for 18th at 158.

Fellow Falcon freshman Shelby Wilson improved her play by two strokes on Monday and completed the tournament with a 160 (81-79). Her score earned a tie for 27th place.

Team captain Amy Ruthenberg also finished in the top half of the field after shooting back-to-back round of 81. She tied for 32nd place with a 36-hole score of 162.

Bailey Arnold (83-84) and Paula DiFrancesco (81-86) each posted final scores of 167 to end the tournament in a tie for 52nd place.

Princeton's Kelly Shon and Newberry's Maria Luz Besio shared top honors by ending Monday's play with matching five-over-par 149s.

Bowling Green will resume their trek to the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships with a trip to Richmond, Ky. for the Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonel Classic. That event will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 6th and 7th.
