COMPLETE MAC SCHEDULE
TEAM-BY-TEAM SCHEDULES
The Bowling Green State University football team, along with the Mid-American Conference office, has announced its 2012 football schedule. The Falcons' schedule is highlighted by trips to Florida and Virginia Tech and a home game versus Buffalo (Nov. 23) in Columbus Crew Stadium. As well, all five games inside Doyt Perry Stadium will take place on a Saturday.
BGSU will open the 2012 season on Sept. 1 versus Florida in “The Swamp” in the first meeting between the two schools. Current Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer began his coaching career at BGSU (2001-02) and spent six seasons at Florida (2005-10).
The Falcons will open the home schedule on Sept. 8 versus Idaho. It will be the third time in four years these two squads have met. Idaho downed the Falcons in the 2009 Humanitarian Bowl (43-42) with the Falcons squaring the series with a 32-15 win on the road last season. BGSU will host Rhode Island on Sept. 29 to conclude its non-conference schedule.
Bowling Green will begin MAC play on Sept. 15 versus arch-rival Toledo inside the Glass Bowl. Other road conference games include Akron (Oct. 6), UMass (Oct. 20) and Ohio (Nov. 7). The Ohio contest is slated for 8 p.m., live on ESPN2.
The home MAC schedule will feature Miami (Oct. 13), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 27), Kent State (Nov. 17) and Buffalo (Nov. 23). The season-ending game against Buffalo will move from Doyt Perry Stadium to Columbus, Ohio and Columbus Crew Stadium. The game will mark BGSU's first neutral site regular season contest since 2006 against Wisconsin that was played in Cleveland Browns Stadium.
“With students away from campus for Thanksgiving Break, the Buffalo game became an opportunity for us to take BGSU on the road to one of our most populated alumni areas,” said Athletics Director Greg Christopher. “We view this as more than a football game and truly a university-wide effort and event. The Crew are excited about the partnership and we look forward to the unique event.”
Kickoff times will be announced at a later date.

Questions & Answers for the Nov. 23 game versus Buffalo at Columbus Crew Stadium
Q: How did the decision come about to move the game to Columbus?
Moving the final game to Columbus is an opportunity to provide something unique to our fans. This will be the first Division I college game played in the Crew Stadium so BGSU will be a part of history. Columbus is an important area for BGSU football recruiting and currently 12 players are from the Columbus area which will impact attendance. This is not just a football game—this is a university event. It allows the university to take BGSU on the road to the capital city which will engage a strong base of students, alumni and allows an opportunity for admissions recruiting. The day after Thanksgiving game has been a challenge from an attendance stand point in Doyt Perry Stadium and similar to Northwestern and Illinois playing at Wrigley Field and Ohio State and Michigan playing hockey at Progressive Field---this is an exciting opportunity for the Falcons to play on a different stage.
Q: How will tickets work for this game?
The Columbus game is included in season ticket packages with comparable seats provided. Additional single game tickets will be $15 and students will get in free just like they do on campus. Single game tickets for all games will go on sale August 6th and fans can purchase tickets to the November 23rd game through Ticketmaster.com, the BGSU Ticket Office, or at the Crew Stadium Box Office.
Q: What if I cannot make the trip to Columbus and I am a season ticket holder?
BGSU Athletics has a ticket exchange program and for those season ticket holders who cannot make it to Columbus, they can exchange their ticket for another home game.
Q: How will parking work for this game?
Football parking passes will not be valid for the Columbus game.
Q: Will the cheerleaders and band travel to Columbus?
Yes, other than the venue, the game in Columbus will look and feel like a home football game in Doyt Perry Stadium.
