Koch Named Academic All-MAC; Three Others Earn Honorable Mention

Abby Koch, a member of the Bowling Green State University track and field team, has been named Academic All-MAC, announced by the league office on Tues. (April 17) afternoon. Saisha Gaillard, Taylor Stichter and Allison Weimer, also members of the team, earned honorable mention.
Koch had an outstanding indoor season in the distance events. She opened the year with a win in the 3,000 meters at the Bowling Green Opener in a time of 10:06.00. A week later she won the mile run race at the Tom Right Classic in 5:11.68. The senior placed ninth at the MAC Championships in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:40.32.
Gaillard was an 800-meter specialist during the indoor season, capturing a pair of top-three finishes and recording career-bests at the MAC Championships in the same event. Gaillard finished second at the Tom Wright Classic with a time of 2:23.84 in the 800 meters. She later added a third-place finish in the same event at the Findlay Open. Gaillard recorded a season-best 2:20.66 in the same event, finishing 14th at the MAC Championships.
Stichter, another distance runner, posted season-bests in place and time in the 3,000 meters at the Tom Wright Classic, racing to a ninth-place finish in 11:13.54. She added a 16th place finish in the 3,000 meters at the Bowling Green Opener (11:15.15) and an 18th place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:34.37.
Weimer, recorded back-to-back wins in the 600 meters at the Tom Wright Classic (1:36.59) and the Findlay Open (1:37.42). She also participated in the 400-meters, posting a season-best 57.87 seconds in the preliminaries at the Indoor MAC Championships. Weimer was also part of the 4x400 relay team that finished first at the Findlay Open with a time of 4:07.30.
