Falcons Complete Gina Relays; Throwers Solid in Ashland

Ashland Results
The Bowling Green State University track and field team sent the majority of the team to compete in the “Gina Relays” hosted by Hillsdale College over the weekend, while the BGSU throwers competed in the Ashland Alumni Open, hosted by Ashland University.
The Falcons' top performance at the Gina Relays came from Lisa Worthey, who finished sixth in the 400 meter open race with a time of 1:00.09.
Natalie Sommerville matched Worthey's place, finishing sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.65. Sommerville was not finished yet, as she went on to record an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.25.
BGSU's Emily Gerkin finished 11th in the high jump with a solid mark (5-03).
The Falcons also sent a handful of throwers over to Ashland University to compete in the Ashland Alumni Open.
Ashley Harris finished seventh of 27 competitors in the shot put (42-00.50) and was 10th of 35 in the discus (134-03). Anna Pomento was 11th in the discus (133-01).
Brooke Pleger, who is redshirting this season, competed “unattached” in Ashland in the hammer throw elite and finished seventh of nine competitors with a distance of 196-10.
The Falcons will return to action on May 10 as they will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich., for the 2012 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Central Michigan.
