Football Posts Highest APR in School History
June 20, 2012 | Football
The Bowling Green State University football team is still months away from opening the season versus Florida on Sept. 1, but still managed to record a pair of school records in the middle of June. With the announcement of the Academic Progress Rate (APR) this afternoon (June 20) by the NCAA, the Falcons posted career-bests in single and multi-year APR scores.
“We are proud of the work, dedication, and performance of our student-athletes in the classroom as demonstrated by our improving APR scores,” said BGSU head football coach Dave Clawson.
BGSU's 2010-11 single year APR score of 970 is the highest-ever for the football program. In fact, under current head coach Dave Clawson the Falcons have scored 963, 965 and 970, the three-highest marks in school history.
The Falcons' 951 multi-year score (last four years) is also the highest in school history and is 10 points better than the 2009-10 score (941), which at the time was also the highest-ever for the football team.
Outstanding APR scores are not uncommon for Clawson. Since the APR began in 2003-04, Clawson's lowest APR score was a 953 during the 2003-04 season, 27 points better than the national average. Clawson added a 965 in 2004-05 and a pair of 992's in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
