New Orleans, La. – For the sixth consecutive year, the Bowling Green State University women's track and field program earned the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team award.
With a 3.24 team grade point average, Bowling Green was one of 171 NCAA Division I teams to earn the honor for the 2012 season. Nine Mid-American Conference schools received the award, tied for second among all Division I conferences. In order to be honored, a program must have a team grade point average of 3.00 or better. The Falcons had the fifth-highest GPA among MAC schools.
“It is an important part of our team's goals to have one of the highest grade point averages in the MAC,” Lou Snelling, BGSU Cross Country and Track and Field Coach, said. “Because of the team's hard work and focus, we took a step closer to that this past year, raising our team GPA. Moving forward, the conversation will revolve around how big of a step we can take in one year's time. With all of the academic resources and support on the Bowling Green campus, we should be able to take another sizable step toward achieving our goal next year.”
Bowling Green had four student-athletes honored by the conference as Academic All-MAC or honorable mention following the indoor track and field season. Abby Koch was named to the Academic All-MAC team and Saisha Gaillard, Taylor Stichter and Allison Weimer were named honorable mention.
