Baseball Adds Seven For 2013

Head coach Danny Schmitz, along with assistant coaches Rick Blanc and Spencer Schmitz, has announced the signing of seven student-athletes that will enter school in the fall as freshman. Of the eight incoming freshman, two are pitchers, three are infielders, and two are catchers.
Brett Fitzwater | LHP | 6-4, 160 lbs. | Defiance, Ohio | Fairview High School
Brett Fitzwater was named to the 2012 All-Green Meadows Conference team, as well as the 2011 Academic All-GMC team. He was selected as Fairview High School's team MVP, as well as the top male athlete at Fairview High School. Fitzwater also played basketball, and was a captain of both the basketball and baseball teams during his senior year. He finished the year with a 7-4 record, recording 112 strikeouts in 60 innings. Brett was also a member of the National Honor Society at Fairview High School.
Nick Glanzman | INF | 6-4, 180 lbs. | Pickerington, Ohio | Pickerington High School North
Nick Glanzman was named to the 2012 All-OCC team following a season in which he batted .452 with 14 doubles. He led his team to a combined 68-19 record during his three years on varsity. He was a team captain for the baseball team during 2012, under Tim Thomas and Jeff Turnbull.
Tyler Greiner | C | 6-2, 215 lbs. | Brunswick, Ohio | Brunswick High School
Tyler Greiner comes to Bowling Green State University after playing three seasons on the varsity baseball team for head coach Todd Winston. He was voted as Brunswick High School's baseball MVP in 2012 and was named co-NOC MVP, as well. Greiner was heavily involved with Link Crew, and Project Mosaic, during high school.
Taylor Huebner | INF | 6-1, 190 lbs. | Piqua, Ohio | Piqua High School
Taylor Huebner batted .390 during his senior season at Piqua High School, playing for Coach Jared Askins. A four-year letterwinner, Huebner was named First-Team All-GWOC during his senior season. Prior to his senior season, Huebner was named a preseason Under Armour All-American. He was also a member of National Honor Society at Piqua High School.
Aaron Loconsole | INF | 5-8, 185 lbs. | Warren, Michigan | Marine City High School
Aaron Loconsole comes to Bowling Green after playing varsity baseball for all four years while at Marine City under Coach Daryn Letson. Loconsole hit .410 as a senior, while driving in 25 runs for the Mariners. He was a two-time All-MAC, while also earning All-Area honors twice. Aaron's father, Frank, played hockey at Michigan Tech.
Matt Smith | C/OF | 6-2, 200 lbs. | Westerville, Ohio | Johnstown Monroe High School
Matt Smith batted .547 as a senior, with 19 doubles and 13 stolen bases. He was a three-year letterwinner for Coach Tony Cleveland. As a Jonnie, Smith was a three-time All-MBC, while garnering First-Team All-State in 2012. Smith was also a Second-Team All-State Quarterback in high school. He captained both the football and baseball squads during his senior year.
Rob Zenas | RHP | 6-6, 220 lbs. | Ann Arbor, Michigan | Ann Arbor Pioneer High School
Rob Zenas comes to Bowling Green from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, where he played for the Pioneers for two seasons. In 2012, Zenas was named to the All-Conference and All-District teams.
