Gates Fires 65 in Final Round of Marshall Invitational

COMPLETE RESULTS
The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished 14th at the Marshall Invitational with a 54-hole score of 878. After opening with a 302 in round one the Falcons played the final 36 holes even par, carding a 287 and 289.
BGSU was led by senior Wes Gates, who carded a final round 65, just two shots shy of the school record (63). His 54-hole score of 207 (73-69-65) was just three shots off a BGSU record. For his efforts he finished tied for third among the 88-player field.
Fellow classmate, Charlie Olson, carded a 219, which included a 74 on Tuesday afternoon. Olson finished tied for 35th after opening with a 73-72 on Monday.
Chris Melvin improved for the second time in as many days. After opening with a 77, he posted a 73 and 72 in the second and third round to finish tied for 53rd.
A pair of freshmen, Holden Pahr and Zac Brammer, saw their first action as Falcons, finishing 80th and 87th. Holden carded a 230 (79-73-78) and Brammer shot 241 (80-80-81).
Up next for the Orange and Brown will be the John Piper Invitational, a tournament the Falcons will host on Sept. 17-18.
