The Bowling Green State University women's golf team sits in third of seven team after day one of the Cleveland State Invitational, carding an opening round score of 321. St. Francis leads the field after firing a 315, followed by the host Vikings (320).
The Falcons sent seven competitors to the tournament, but only five could compete for the team. Amy Ruthenberg shot a season-low 75 and sits in second-place among the 43-player field. The problem though, she is competing as an individual, meaning her score would not count towards BGSU's total.
If Ruthenberg's score were eligible the Falcons would have recorded a 313 and lead the tournament by two shots.
The players that did count did not disappoint. Junior Bailey Arnold is four shots off the individual lead after carding a 77 to sit in a tie for fourth.
Patricia Holt's 79 puts her in a tie for ninth, giving the Falcons three of the top-10 golfers through day one.
Also competing for BGSU were Hannah Lewis (82, T-14th), Lily Bartell (83, T-21st) and Shelby Wilson (86, 34th).
Kelsey Benson, an individual, sits in a tie for 14th after finishing with an 82.
The final round will begin on Tuesday morning.
