Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m., with Sunday's contest slated for a 2:30 p.m. start. Both matches will be played at the CCU Soccer Field. Florida Atlantic University, a Mid-American Conference affiliate member for soccer, is the fourth team in the invitational.
The Falcons are 1-1-1 on the young season. After opening with a 3-0 win over Saint Bonaventure, the Brown and Orange dropped a 2-1 decision to Michigan State on Wednesday (Aug. 29) before battling Marshall to a scoreless, double-overtime draw on Saturday night (Sept. 1).
Individually, six different BGSU players have two points apiece. Four different Falcons have scored goals, as sophomore Danny Baraldi and juniors Brandon Silva and Ryan Comiskey all found the back of the net vs. SBU, while senior Zach Lemke scored BG's goal against MSU. Senior Chris McLean and junior Anthony Grant each have a pair of assists this fall to date.

BGSU returned just one starting defender from a year ago, junior Zach Schewee, but the Falcons have gotten contributions from numerous players in earning those two shutouts. Junior Sean Sikich and freshman Jake Genrich each have played every minute of the season to date on the back line, while juniors Matt Griesinger and Marco Ilao and sophomore Jon Kumher each have started at least one match on defense.
Additionally, fifth-year senior Sean Hastings made his BGSU debut on Saturday vs. Marshall, playing 67 minutes. Hastings, a transfer from Oakland Univ., is in his third season with the Falcons.
Wofford will enter Friday's match with an overall record of 1-2-0. The Terriers have played three one-goal games, losing to then-No. 19 Wake Forest and Winthrop, with a win over Gardner-Webb in between. Alex Hutchins has two of the team's three goals to date, including the team's lone game-winning goal so far.
In goal, Andrew Drennan has played every minute this fall to date, and has a 1.33 GAA. Head coach Ralph Polson has 19 letterwinners, including 10 starters, back from last season, when the Terriers went 5-13-1 overall and 1-6-0 in Southern Conference play.
Friday's match will be the first-ever meeting between BGSU and Wofford in men's soccer.
Coastal Carolina enters the week with a 2-1-1 record, and the Chanticleers are 1-0-0 in Big South Conference play. CCU plays Florida Atlantic on Friday night before meeting the Falcons on Sunday afternoon. Coastal, ranked 19th in the nation in this week's College Soccer News and NSCAA polls, tied Ohio State and defeated Wright State last weekend. The lone loss came to then-No. 3 Charlotte in double overtime.
Last year, coach Shaun Docking's team went 18-4-0 overall, a perfect 9-0-0 in the Big South, led the nation with 66 goals and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. This season, senior Ashton Bennett has three goals and eight points to lead the team in both categories. He led the entire country with 23 goals last season, en route to All-America honors. Junior Pedro Ribeiro also was named an All-American a year ago, and joins Bennett on the Hermann Trophy Watch List for 2012. In goal, Federico Bertele has made three starts and has a GAA of 0.64, while Scott Shewfelt has played over 127 minutes without allowing a goal.
The Falcons and CCU are tied, 1-1-0, in the all-time series between the teams, and each team has scored three goals in the series. BGSU picked up a 3-1 win in neutral-site action (at a tournament hosted by Akron) in September of 1994, and the Chanticleers posted a home win, 2-0, on Sept. 1, 2006.
Following this weekend's matches in South Carolina, the Falcons will return to Ohio to prepare for a match at Cleveland State on Friday, Sept. 14. BGSU's next home game is Wednesday, Sept. 18, against Detroit.
ADDITIONAL FALCON NOTES
• Sunday's CCU match is one of only two day games on the 2012 schedule. BGSU's other afternoon tilt is the Northern Illinois match in DeKalb in late October. The schedule includes 14 matches that begin at 7:00 p.m., along with two 6:00 p.m. kickoffs, Friday's 5:00 p.m. match vs. Wofford, Sunday's 2:30 p.m. game vs. CCU and the NIU match (2:00 p.m. ET).
• Junior Michael Wiest's shutout against Marshall on Saturday, as mentioned, was his second of the season. The clean sheet also was Wiest's eighth in 16 career starts, and his sixth in 10 total starts at Cochrane Field.
• Sophomore Vlad Lekarev made his first start for the Falcons in the Marshall match. Lekarev, a transfer from Butler, made six starts with the Bulldogs in 2011.
• Fifth-year senior Zach Lemke's goal vs. Michigan State was the fourth of his career. He now has a career total of 12 points. Lemke leads the 2012 Falcons in shot attempts (seven) and shots on goal (four) through three games.
• Junior Anthony Grant scored his first career point at BGSU in his Falcon debut, with an assist in the opener against Saint Bonaventure. Grant also had an assist in BG's second match, vs. MSU. Though Grant was held without a point in the Marshall game – as was everyone else on the pitch – he has scored at least one point in 18 of 21 collegiate matches in the United States. Grant, a transfer from McKendree (Ill.) University, had a school-record total of 53 points for the Bearcats last season.
• Senior Chris McLean scored his first career point with an assist vs. SBU, then picked up his second career assist on Lemke's goal in the MSU match.
