January 07, 2013 | General, Ice Hockey, Gymnastics
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Brent Tate and gymnast Jamilah Ali.

Male Athlete of the Week
Brent Tate, a freshman from Canton, Mich., recorded points in back-to-back games for the Falcons, helping the Orange and Brown to a 1-0-1 record at Canisius over the weekend. Tate recorded an assist on Saturday and picked up his first career goal on Sunday, giving him a point in all three games he has played this season.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jamilah Ali, a sophomore from Toms River, N.J., led the Falcons to their highest season-opening score since 2004 with 192.200 against Ohio State. Ali was BGSU's top scorer on both vault and floor exercise, scoring a 9.85 on vault to finish third and a 9.8 on floor to place second.
